Specifying Mail Clients Setup

To ensure that e-mail clients are setup and configured correctly, the following requirements must be met.

  1. Ensure that you have installed only one of the following systems:
A dedicated PC running DOS installed on LAN to act as gateway client host or
A Windows NT or Windows 95 machine to run the client process in a DOS window.

For cc:Mail this is called the Gateway Post Office, for MS-Mail it is called the External Post Office.

  2. If file sharing is the preferred transport, ensure that it is installed and configured to provide connectivity between the Solaris host and the established LAN.
  3. Ensure that the SMCS gateway routing information is added to all LAN e-mail post offices in the network.
  4. Ensure that directory synchronization between all LAN e-mail post offices is fully operational.
