1 How Oracle Database Firewall Is Licensed

Oracle Database Firewall is comprised of two components that are licensed separately. They are:

Oracle Database Firewall. Each Database Firewall performs the following tasks:
- Handles real-time recording and analysis of SQL transaction requests and responses from one or more Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase databases, and Sybase SQL Anywhere.
- Categorizes SQL transactions
- Enforces data policies
- Enables real-time alerting and event propagation
Oracle Database Firewall Management Server. The Management Server performs the following tasks:
- Aggregates logged data and events from one or more Database Firewalls
- Serves as a reporting platform for business reports
- Centralizes the distribution of data control policies, but still enables the use of different policies for specific databases
- Stores and manages log files, including archiving and restoring the log files
- Remotely manages all Database Firewalls to which it connects
- Integrates with third-party applications, such as ArcSight SIEM
The Management Server also includes the Oracle Database Firewall Analyzer, which reads the logs created by the Database Firewalls to create and/or update the policy used to block, alert, log, or permit SQL statements for the database.

2 Special-Use Licensing

Oracle Database Firewall is a complete stacked application. The Oracle Database Firewall software use is restricted to support the Oracle Database Firewall database repository and no other databases created using the Oracle Database Firewall executables are supported.

Oracle Database Firewall customers may use the embedded Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher to run the shipped, unmodified reports, and to make layout changes. If customers want to modify the shipped reports, or create and run new BI Publisher reports, they must purchase a Full Use license of Business Intelligence Publisher.
