The Insert Graphic Task Pane

Use the Insert Graphic task pane to insert a new graphic element.

Fields

The Insert Graphic task pane contains the following fields:

Name

For naming conventions, see The New Graphic Dialog

Description

If the graphic resource is in a workspace definition file, then the Description is the height and width of the graphic resource in inches

Replace existing graphic with Documaker graphic

Use this checkbox to replace a graphic that you have selected in your document with a Documaker graphic that is specified in a workspace definition file (WDF).

Note

This check box is only available for selection if the graphic you have selected from the Insert Graphic pane has been defined in a WDF.

To use this check box:

Select a graphic in your document.
From the Insert Graphic pane, select the Documaker graphic that you want to replace the selected graphic in your document with.
Ensure this check box is selected.
Click Insert.

The graphic in your document is replaced by the selected Documaker graphic. It appears in your document using the dimensions listed in the Documaker graphic's Description.

If you clear this checkbox, then the graphic that you have selected in your document will be retained. The graphic in your document will be sized according to the setting in Resize graphic to Documaker graphic size.

Resize graphic to Documaker graphic size

Use this checkbox to resize a graphic that you have selected in your document to the size of a Documaker graphic that is specified in a workspace definition file (WDF).

Note

This check box is available only for selection if the Replace existing graphic with Documaker graphic check box has been cleared, and the graphic is defined in a WDF.

To use this check box:

Select a graphic in your document.
From the Insert Graphic pane, select the graphic which has the dimensions that you want to resize the selected graphic in your document to.
Ensure this check box is selected.
Click Insert.

The graphic that you have selected in your document will be resized using the dimensions specified in the Documaker graphic’s Description.

If you clear this checkbox, then the currently selected graphic in your document will not be resized.

Comments

Use this field to enter comments for the selected graphic that you are going to insert; the comments will be added to the graphic element after it is inserted

Tasks

From the Insert Graphic pane, you can:

click Insert to insert the selected graphic resource
click to search for a graphic resource
click and select Thumbnails to display thumbnails (small preview images) of the graphics, or Details to display the list of graphics and their dimensions

Note that a thumbnail image will not appear if the original graphic file is missing or the graphic's dimensions do not match those of the graphic resource in the WFD; for details,see Inserting a Missing or Mismatched Graphic

right-click a graphic in the table and select Preview/Properties to display the Preview/Properties dialog
