Class PropertyDisplayPanel

java.lang.Object
  extended by java.awt.Component
      extended by java.awt.Container
          extended by javax.swing.JComponent
              extended by javax.swing.JPanel
                  extended by oracle.ide.inspector.PropertyDisplayPanel

All Implemented Interfaces:
java.awt.image.ImageObserver, java.awt.MenuContainer, java.io.Serializable, javax.accessibility.Accessible

public class PropertyDisplayPanel
extends javax.swing.JPanel

Panel that understands how to render properties in a similar way as the Property Inspector. This panel is intended to be embedded in the UI of custom components, minimizing code duplication and defects.

Like the Property Inspector, this panel render properties in a form-based UI. The UI is divided in rows, where each row can contain one or more properties.

Each property is rendered as followed:

  1. an icon (e.g. the "green dot" displayed in JSF properties when a property contains a value different than the default value)
  2. display name
  3. inline editor, which is configured exactly the same as the ones used by the Property Inspector
  4. If applicable, an action drop-down (the "little triangle" with a pop-up menu)

Unlike the Property Inspector, the layout of this panel is specified programmatically, using a PropertyDisplayPanelLayout. In this layout, clients can specify the ids of the properties to display, as well as how to visually display them (rows and columns.)

To use this panel, clients need to:

  1. specify a layout
  2. call render(PropertyModel) when the custom component is initialized
  3. call updateOnly(PropertyModel)
  4. when the custom component is updated

Constructor Detail

PropertyDisplayPanel

public PropertyDisplayPanel(PropertyDisplayPanelLayout layout)
Creates a new PropertyDisplayPanel.
Parameters:
layout - specifies the properties to display and how to display them (rows and columns.)

Method Detail

updateOnly

public void updateOnly(oracle.bali.inspector.PropertyModel model)
Updates this panel with the values of the given property model. When updating, this panel will not redraw itself. It will simply update its inline editors with the values in the given property model. Clients are responsible for calling this method, for example, from CustomGUIComponent.onUpdate(PropertyModel).
Parameters:
model - the given property model.

render

public void render(oracle.bali.inspector.PropertyModel model)
Renders the properties in the given property model that were specified in the layout of this panel. Clients are responsible for calling this method, for example, from CustomGUIComponent.onInitialize(PropertyModel).
Parameters:
model - the given property model.

setBackground

public void setBackground(java.awt.Color bg)
Overrides:
setBackground in class javax.swing.JComponent
