A second basic decision you will need to make concerns Display Modes. In particular, you will need to decide how many views the discussion forum will have, what kind of views they will be, and what they will look like.
There are two Display Modes:
Shared Display Mode | The Display Mode of a gear when it is sharing a portal page with other gears |
Full Page Display Mode | A Display Mode of a gear when it is using the entire page to show its contents |
In some cases, there will be only one shared view of a gear. In other cases, there will be more (for example, there may be a different view for members of a particular community). In most cases, there will be more than one full-page view of a gear (for example, content mode views like Message Content and Full-Page Message/Thread List or administrative views like User Configuration or Instance Configuration).
In our forum discussion example, you might have the following content-mode views:
