You can display summary notes about several types of objects in the Monitoring Dashboard by positioning the mouse pointer over those objects. To display summary notes about an item, shift focus to that item, or point the mouse at it and pause. A short message about the item is displayed in a note window.

Summary notes are most useful for displaying details about metrics, the MBean instances in which they are defined, and their values as they are plotted in charts. You can also display tooltips about items in charts, such as buttons, legends, menus, and so forth, which describe what each item does. For more information, see the following topics:
