Automatic Storage Management Configuration Assistant (ASMCA) allows the user to create, configure, or migrate ASM instances that take advantage of the new 11g features such as Volumes and ASM Cluster File systems. These, along with other storage management services such as Secure Backup and on-line HSM, comprise the Automatic Storage Management (ASM) service that lets the user store Oracle installation binaries and all their application data on an ASM instance running on a single host or in a cluster environment.
ASMCA may be run to configure an ASM instance and the Disk Groups, Volumes, and ACFS that are part of it. It may also be used to create ACFS DB homes on Disk Groups prior to creating or installing a database instance that makes use of USM features.
