This chapter describes the implementation process and the steps required to implement Oracle Contracts.
This chapter covers the following topics:
Mandatory implementation steps are required for Oracle Contracts to function properly. Topics include:
Contract Terms Library and Contract Repository are the main components of Oracle Contracts.
In an organization, the business practices group and legal professionals can use Contract Terms Library to create and manage a library that contains:
All the standard business and legal language as well as company-standard contract boilerplates (templates).
Contract Expert rules that define conditions under which:
Additional clauses can be added to a business document.
Deviations from standard corporate policies can be identified and reported.
Contract Repository enables you to create miscellaneous contracts, such as license agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and merger agreements, which are not specifically related to the functionality of other Oracle applications. You can also create miscellaneous agreements, such as License and Human Resource agreements, that are outside the normal purchasing or sales flows and for which full execution capabilities may not be required. Also, you can consider using Contract Repository for storing and managing legacy procurement or sales contracts that have limited execution needs.
To effectively implement Contract Terms Library, you must perform the following tasks:
Set up profile options.
Set up operating units for global and local implementation.
Set up lookup codes.
Migrate clauses from external sources to Contract Terms Library.
Additional setup is required to use the following features:
Complex Workflow Approvals of clauses and templates. For information about setting up workflow for approvals, see Oracle Workflow Administrator's Guide.
Keyword search in the contract terms library. For more information, see the Enabling Keyword Search section.
To effectively implement Contract Repository, you must perform the following tasks:
Set up operating units.
Set up approval rules.
Set up contract types.
