Using the HTML-Based Production Scheduler Workbench

This chapter covers the following topics:

Understanding the Production Scheduler Workbench

You can use the HTML-based version of the Production Scheduler Workbench to perform many of the same tasks as the Oracle Forms-based Production Scheduler Workbench, but not all. Until you can use the HTML-based Production Scheduler Workbench to accomplish more of the same tasks, you can access both Production Scheduler Workbench versions. Use the HTML-based Production Scheduler Workbench to perform the following tasks:

Viewing Resource Loads

After Viewing the Batch Schedule and Details, use the Resource Load region to view resource availability. A Gantt chart uses colors to depict whether each resource is available, allocated, or overloaded for a certain time period.

To view resource loads from the Scheduler Workbench

  1. Click Select Resources.

The Select Resources dialog box opens.

  2. In the Available Resources column, select one or more resources to move to the Selected Resources column. Click the arrow to move them.

  3. Verify that all resources you want to view appear in the Selected Resources column, then click Apply.

The resource loads for the selected resources appear in a Gantt chart. Colors indicate the following:

    • Green - Available. If 0 to 49 percent of resource instances are scheduled for use, then the resource bar appears green for the time period.

    • Yellow - Allocated. If 50 to 100 percent of resource instances are scheduled for use, then the resource bar appears yellow for the time period.

    • Red - Overloaded. If more than 100 percent of resource instances are scheduled for use, then the resource bar appears red for the time period.

Each resource Gantt bar lists the resource usage, in hours (based on the selection of Hour, Day, or Week) scheduled for use divided by the total number of resource usage hours available. For example, if there are 24 hours of resource usage available per day and the resource is not in use (green), the bar displays 0.0/24.0. If half of this resource is allocated (yellow), the bar displays 12.0/24.0. The amount of hourly usage in the numerator and denominator varies depending on the scale and selection of Hour, Day, or Week in the Scheduler Workbench Gantt chart.

Each resource Gantt bar visually depicts the resource load start and end dates, but you can also hover over a bar to see the start and end dates and times.

  4. Zoom in and out between hours, days, weeks, months, quarters, and years in the Scheduler Workbench region to also zoom in and out in the Resource Load region.

When you hover over the Scheduler Workbench Gantt chart date range header, zoom icons appear. Use them to zoom in and out of a date range. Alternatively, use the use the Date-Time Editor or click Hour, Day, or Week to find your ideal date and time range for the both the Scheduler Workbench and Resource Load Gantt charts.

  5. Hover over a resource Gantt chart bar, right-click, then click Usage.

A Resource Usage table appears, listing the following usage information for the resource:

    • Batch Number

    • Start Date

    • End Date

    • Duration

    • Status
