Using the HTML-Based Production Scheduler Workbench

This chapter covers the following topics:

Understanding the Production Scheduler Workbench

You can use the HTML-based version of the Production Scheduler Workbench to perform many of the same tasks as the Oracle Forms-based Production Scheduler Workbench, but not all. Until you can use the HTML-based Production Scheduler Workbench to accomplish more of the same tasks, you can access both Production Scheduler Workbench versions. Use the HTML-based Production Scheduler Workbench to perform the following tasks:

Searching for Batches

Use the Production Scheduler Workbench to search for batches, view batch details, and then reschedule batches or operations as needed.

    • Date To: the Planned Start Date of a batch begins on this date or earlier.

    • Batch From: this batch number and greater.

    • Batch To: this batch number and less.

      • Pending

      • WIP

      • Complete

  4. Click Go, or click Show More Search Options.

If you clicked Go, the search results appear. Otherwise, enter additional search criteria.

    • Product: search for and select a batch product.

    • Resource: search for and select a resource used in a batch.

    • Ingredient: search for and select an ingredient consumed in a batch.

The batches that meet the search criteria appear in the Scheduler Workbench region, which is divided into two parts: a table that lists each batch and a Gantt chart that displays each batch along an interactive timeline.

  7. To begin a new search, click Clear.

Viewing the Batch Schedule and Details

Once the batches that meet your search criteria appear (see Searching for Batches), you can use the Scheduler Workbench region to view the following details about each batch:

This information appears in table format as well as in a Gantt chart format.

To view the batch schedule details

  1. Hover over a bar for a batch in the Gantt chart region.

The following batch information appears over the bar:

    • Planned Quantity

    • UOM - the unit of measure of the planned quantity.

    • Planned Start Date

    • Start Date - If the batch status is Pending, this represents the planned start date. If the batch status is WIP or Complete, this represents the actual start date.

    • End Date - If the batch status is Pending or WIP, this represents the planned end date. If the batch status is Complete, this represents the actual end date.

  2. In the table region, expand a batch.

The batch's steps appear in the table and in the Gantt chart. Hover over the Gantt chart bar for a step to view the following step information:

  3. Expand a batch step to see the activity performed and resources used within the step.

The activity and resources appear in both the table and in the Gantt chart. Hover over the Gantt chart bars for the activity and for the resources to view the following information:

    • Activity - the activity name. This appears only when hovering over the activity Gantt chart bar.

    • Resource - the resource name. This appears only when hovering over the resource Gantt chart bar.

    • Actual Start Date

Tip: When you hover over the Gantt chart date range header, zoom icons appear. Use them to zoom in and out of a date range. Zoom in and out between hours, days, weeks, months, quarters, and years.

To view additional batch details:

  1. In the Scheduler Workbench region, Batch column, click a batch link.

The Batch Details window opens in view-only mode. Use this window to view additional details about the batch.

Rescheduling Batches

You can reschedule a batch or an operation from the Scheduler Workbench Gantt chart.

To reschedule a batch or operation from the Scheduler Workbench:

Depending upon whether you select a batch or operation, the Batch Reschedule or Operation Reschedule dialog box opens.

  2. Click the date editor for each of the following fields and select a revised date. Manually adjust the time as needed.

    • Scheduled Start Date

Additional Information: You can only change the scheduled start date of a batch in Pending status.

    • Scheduled Completion Date

  3. Select the Use WorkDay Calendar option to limit batch or operation scheduling to the days when the plant is operational.

  4. (Conditional) When rescheduling an operation, select the Rescheduling Preceding Steps option to automatically reschedule any preceding steps to meet the new scheduled dates for the operation.

  5. (Conditional) When rescheduling an operation, select the Rescheduling Succeeding Steps option to automatically reschedule any succeeding steps to meet the new scheduled dates for the operation.

Conditional Action: When rescheduling an operation, the scheduled start and completion dates automatically adjust for the operation's associated batch, even if the Rescheduling Preceding Steps and Rescheduling Succeeding Steps options are not selected.

  6. Click Apply.

A Confirmation message appears, verifying that you successfully rescheduled the batch or operation.
