Configuring Devices on a Dial-Out System

The first task for setting up a dial-out PPP system is to configure the devices on the serial line: the modem and serial port.

Note - Tasks that apply to a modem usually apply to an ISDN TA.

Before performing the following procedure, you must have completed the following steps:

  • Installed the Oracle Solaris release on the dial-out system

  • Determined the optimum modem speed

  • Decided which serial port to use on the dial-out system

  • Obtained the root password for the dial-out system

For planning information, see Before You Set Up the Dial-Out System.
