Validation Error Types
It can be helpful to understand the different types of validation errors you may experience.
Validation errors fall into different categories. Most of these relate to specific element types:
- general element errors – these can apply to any type of element, for example: invalid elements, or elements located in a restricted area of the Documaker document, such as a footnote or endnote
- field element errors – these apply only to field elements, for example, a field contains a shape
- multiline field element errors – these apply only to multiline field elements, for example, a multiline field crosses a page boundary or contains a shape
- paragraph element errors – these apply only to paragraph elements, for example, a paragraph contains a shape or table, or is located in a restricted area of the Documaker document, such as a header or footer
- section element errors – these apply only to section elements, for example, two section elements with the same name
- graphic element errors – these apply only to graphic elements, for example, the graphic is not aligned correctly, or the graphic file is missing
- font errors – these are font-related errors; the Add-In detects most of the fonts used in a Documaker document and, compares them with the fonts listed in WDF; if it cannot find a matching font in the WDF, you will receive a font error
