A user with the appropriate rights can lock or unlock patients, visits, forms, and items. Locking, like freezing, prevents changes in data—either temporarily, during a study, or permanently, at the end of a study. Locked patients, visits, and forms cannot be signed.

If you lock all the repeating sections and lock the form, you are prevented from adding new repeating sections. If you lock the repeating sections, but do not lock the form, you can still add repeating sections but cannot change anything in the locked sections.
