The City of Calgary standardized on the use of Notification Composer for all delivered and custom approval notifications

The City of Calgary recently completed an update to PeopleSoft HCM PI 50. With this upgrade, we implemented Notification Composer.

Notification Composer is being used for all delivered notifications that we use and all custom approval notifications. Some existing custom non-approval notifications have not yet been converted to Notification Composer.

With this implementation, we have:

• Created a consistent approach to notifications.
• Established one central location to find notifications.
• Created a new standard for using any delivered notifications or when we need to create any new custom notifications in the future.
• Used the opportunity to refresh all the delivered notifications that were in use and custom approval notifications and create a consistent look and feel and format of emails. For example:
  • Standardized sender of emails
  • Subject lines to be more descriptive—for example, “Action Required – XXXX”, “Information – XXXX”.
  • Content of email to be more plain language and improved formatting, such as bolding for easier reading by end users.
