Summary

FTI Consulting used Selective Adoption to deploy features like Fluid Homepages, WorkCenters, Classic Plus, Drop Zones, Event Driven Mapping, and Elasticsearch to name a few. With the recent upgrade to 8.57.x tools, FTI Consulting has been leveraging improvements in document technology and REST-based web services around JSON to integrate with third-party SaaS solutions. FTI Consulting has also set up three virtual machines to host the Update Images which help them stay current with their tax updates.

Selective adoption:

  • PUM, decoupled PS_HOME - as part of the upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2, adopted de-couple PS_HOME architecture. We have deployed PS_HOME, PS_APP_HOME and PS_CUST_HOME and this has greatly improved the patching process. Used PUM to apply regulatory updates like tax updates and new features as they are delivered with each PUM release. Also have applied PRPs to PUM databases.

User experience: Fluid, Classic Plus, navigation, branding

  • Fluid homepages and tiles
    • As part of the 9.1 to 9.2 upgrade we adopted the Fluid homepage with tiles as of day 1
  • WorkCenter
    • Leverage and configured the delivered U.S. Payroll WorkCenter when we upgraded to 9.2 from day 1. Similarly created one for HR SMEs and Support personnel. This is a one-stop shop for both the HR and Payroll support/SME staff as all their commonly used pages and reports are available in one view.
  • Classic plus
    • Via the Classic Plus Setup page converted all pages to classic plus as applicable
  • Elasticsearch
    • Deployed Elasticsearch and Kibana primarily used for navigational searches

Configuration and de-customization:

  • RestFul web service (locations and employees in that location)
    • Integrates with intranet based employee portal (SharePoint) to display active office locations and list of employees in that location along with a few attributes like title and contact info for each employee.
  • CI based Web Service (SOAP)
    • Integration with a custom .Net application (developed in-house) to process hire/re-hires
  • Drop Zones
    • Added custom fluid page as a drop zone on the ESS additional info page
  • Event Driven Mapping
    • Created custom application package

      - to send notifications using PT_WF_NOTIFICATION PeopleCode API
      - to generate ESS page hits statistics
      - to collapse sub-pages on initial load

This has helped us build the requested customization without customizing PeopleSoft delivered objects.

    • To monitor PeopleSoft production environment services in real-time.
  • Performance Monitor
    • To monitor the various tiers of the PeopleSoft production environment
