Hennepin County deployed OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards

Hennepin County converted dashboards from Elasticsearch and Kibana to OpenSearch and PeopleSoft Insights. We originally added Elasticsearch and Kibana during a PeopleTools upgrade project. The infrastructure was put into place by the technical team. And the finance team exposed both delivered and custom dashboards.

In 2024, a project began in the spring to convert to the new framework—OpenSearch and PeopleSoft Insights—as the old was no longer going to be supported. Keeping this infrastructure current on technology is critical as we expose more dashboards for our Hennepin County users. The trend in the industry is to make it easier to understand the business via visualizations and drilling to the details when questions arise. This conversion will ensure we can provide that information readily to our decision makers.
