KAR Global updated their PeopleSoft Financials system

Summary

KAR Global, in conjunction with their partner MIPRO Consulting, recently updated their PeopleSoft Financial system from PUM Image 17 to Image 30. The supporting PeopleTools platform was upgraded from 8.54 to the latest available version, which was 8.57. In addition to getting current on PUM releases, KAR wanted to take advantage of new capabilities and features within PeopleSoft. As part of KAR’s PeopleSoft Update they implemented Fluid for Expenses as well as for many of their approval processes. KAR also introduced mobile expense report entry and approvals along with expense report receipt storage within PeopleSoft as well as other application enhancements. KAR started using WorkCenters across multiple modules. KAR has utilized Page and Field Configurator which helped them eliminate some customizations. Event Mapping was used to remove a major PeopleTools customization that will reduce time for future PeopleTools patches. Implemented infrastructure changes resulted in improved redundancy capabilities and enhanced security. KAR also has added some analytical tiles to assist with watching trends in certain areas. Custom branding was added to make the user experience more KAR-specific and different branding themes were utilized for non-production environments to easily identify each environment.

Customer comments

KAR made the business decision to update their PeopleSoft environment in order to take advantage of all that PeopleSoft had to offer. Utilizing Fluid for expenses and approvals helped streamline business processes and allowed them to introduce mobile expense reporting and approvals, significantly improving their legacy T&E process for employees and managers. The use of Page and Field Configurator helped them configure their software to meet their needs without customizations, which puts them in a position to more easily stay current on future PUM releases. The use of pivot grids with tiles has helped them track specific areas of interest.

This update, introduction of Fluid, and usage of some of the new PeopleSoft features and functionality was very well received by KAR’s user community. Given KAR’s journey has seen them begin on PeopleSoft 8.0 in 2002 with upgrades to 8.8, 9.0 and then 9.2 followed by PeopleSoft Image Updates from 9.2.4 to 9.2.17 and now from 9.2.17 to 9.2.30, this most recent update has been the most well received by a wide margin when compared to other updates/upgrades.
