Management Development Institute Gurgaon, in conjunction with their ERP support partner 1218 Global, harnessed the unique capabilities of PeopleSoft Cloud Manager to upgrade PeopleTools and PeopleSoft HCM, PeopleSoft FSCM, and PeopleSoft Interaction Hub in just 24 weeks, all while deploying the fluid user interface and analytic dashboards.

Upgrade

The objective of the project was to upgrade the entire stack leveraging the functionalities and features of the upgraded stack. It involved upgrading the operating system, database, and all implemented modules:

PeopleTools upgrade from 8.55.13 to 8.59.14.
HCM 9.2 upgrade from Image 16 to Image 45.
FSCM 9.2 upgrade from Image 11 to Image 46.
Interaction Hub 9.1 upgrade to Image 15.
Oracle Database upgrade from 12.1.0.2 to 19.18.0.0.

Cloud Manager on OCI

The power of Cloud Manager was harnessed to seamlessly upgrade our PeopleSoft instances, streamlining a traditionally complex process. By leveraging Cloud Manager's automated environment management capabilities, we expedited the provisioning, scaling, and cloning of environments, ensuring a smooth testing and development workflow. The product’s automated patching and update workflows simplified the deployment of PeopleSoft updates and fixes, reducing downtime and minimizing the risk of errors. Additionally, Cloud Manager's resource scaling feature enabled us to adapt to fluctuating workloads effortlessly, optimizing resource allocation for peak efficiency. With detailed monitoring and reporting, we gained valuable insights into our instances' health and performance, enabling us to proactively address any issues. In summary, Cloud Manager transformed our PeopleSoft upgrade journey into a streamlined and efficient process, enhancing our overall system performance and minimizing operational disruptions.

User experience

As the Management Development Institute upgraded HCM, FSCM, and Interaction Hub, we fully embraced and deployed the fluid user interface. The new UI is now used across all modules including the core HR, Absence Management, and Global Payroll modules on the HCM side, and Asset Management, Purchase, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Billing, Inventory, and GL on the FSCM side. Users can now navigate through the tiles and navigation collections placed under their homepage instead of going through the full menu paths. The streamlined pages and screens provide an enhanced user experience to end users. Implementation of global search during the upgrade has enhanced the ease of access, eliminating the need to remember navigation paths.

MDI was using classic absence management, which has been replaced with the latest fluid absence management features. A custom attachment framework has also been replaced with the delivered attachment framework.
