Seneca College's chatbot 'Sam' automates the answering of student questions, including integrated data and transactions in PeopleSoft Campus. Sam, the digital assistant, has almost 500 content answers as well. Sam is deployed globally and students from anywhere in the world can use it.
Sam has 471 unique answers handling tens of thousands of different questions
45,000 users have access and in the fall term, almost 20% of users used Sam in December 2020
Over 8,000 questions asked in December (a partial month in higher ed). By traditional metrics, 8,000 help desk calls would cost $150k USD
