About Cryptography in Oracle Solaris

Oracle Solaris provides the Cryptographic Framework to handle cryptographic requirements. Third parties can add their cryptographic services as plugins to the Cryptographic Framework. See Introduction to the Cryptographic Framework.

OpenSSL, an open source project, is a source of cryptographic services for Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets in Oracle Solaris. Oracle Solaris supports both the non-FIPS 140-2 and the FIPS 140-2 versions of OpenSSL. See OpenSSL and Oracle Solaris.
