Competition Codes

Sales information can be provided on company, travel agent, source, and contact Profile screens, primarily on the Sales Info tab. This information can assist Sales Managers in decision-making and can be used as filters in preparing sales reports.

Competition codes allow you to identify other hospitality businesses that are competing with you for an account's available revenue. Select Configuration>Profile>Sales Information>Competition Codes to set up competition codes. The Competition Codes screen appears.

The Competition Codes screen shows the following information.

Code. Code that represents the competitor.

Description. Description of the competition code.

Seq. Number that controls the position of the competition code in displays.

Adding and Editing Competition Codes

To create a new competition code, select the New button from the Competition Codes screen. To modify an existing competition code, highlight your choice on the Competition Codes screen and select the Edit button. The Competition Codes - New or Competition Codes - Edit screen appears. You may also inactivate and delete unused competition codes.

Provide the following information and select the OK button.

Code. Enter a code for the competitor.

Description. Enter a description for the competition code.

Display Seq. Enter a number that will control the position of this competition code when listed in screen displays. Competition codes that do not have a display sequence number appear in alphabetical order following the competition codes that have a sequence number assigned.

Inactive. Select this check box to inactivate the current competition code. Leave unchecked for active codes. You can also inactivate a code from the main grid by highlighting the code and selecting the Inactivate button. Inactive codes will not be available for selection on a profile, but will be available for selection in filters and queries. If you want to delete a code, you must first inactivate it and then delete it. Only inactive codes that are not currently applied to a profile can be deleted.

Function Buttons

Search. Select to search for the Competition Codes based on the search criteria that has been entered.

Move Up. Select to move the Competition Code up in the display sequence.

Move Down. Select to move the Competition Code down in the display sequence.

New. Select to create a new Competition Code.

Edit. Select to edit the highlighted Competition Code in the grid.

Inactivate. Select this button to inactivate the highlighted code in the grid.

You can also inactivate a code from the Competition Codes - New or Competition Codes - Edit screens by selecting the Inactive check box.
Inactive codes will not be available for selection on a profile, but will be available for selection in filters and queries.
If you want to delete a code, you must first inactivate it and then delete it. Only inactive codes that are not currently applied to a profile can be deleted.
Inactivated sales information codes can be viewed on the User Activity Log. Select Miscellaneous>User Activity Log. Then, on the User Activity Log screen, select Activity Group>Configuration.

Delete. This button displays when the Show Inactive check box is selected in the Search criteria and only inactive codes display in the grid.

If you want to delete the highlighted inactive code, select the Delete button. If the highlighted code is still associated with a past or future profile, you will see the message, "Cannot delete. Record has dependent records." In this case, you must first go to the specific profile screen and delete the code from the corresponding field.
Deleted sales information codes can be viewed on the User Activity Log. Select Miscellaneous>User Activity Log. Then, on the User Activity Log screen, select Activity Group>Configuration.

Close. Select to exit out of the Competition Codes configuration screen.
