Create a New Style Sheet


After completing this topic, you will be able to create a new style sheet.


Steps:

  1. Create a new style sheet in the Style Sheets folder.

     

    Click the File menu.

  2. Point to the New menu.

  3. Click the Style Sheet command.

  4. Save the new style sheet in the Style Sheets folder.

     

    Click the Save button.

  5. The Save As dialog box opens to the Style Sheets folder because that was the selected folder when you created the style sheet.

  6. Name the style sheet.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "MyStyles"
    .

  7. Click the Save button.

  8. After creating a new style sheet, you can assign it to web pages.

     

    You can also assign the style sheet to modules, sections, and topics so that new web pages that link to those documents inherit the style sheet assignment.

     

    You can assign a style sheet to an existing document using the Properties toolpane from the Library, Outline Editor, and Web Page Editor.

  9. Open a concept from the WordPad Training outline in the Web Page Editor.

     

    Click the WordPad Training tab.

  10. Edit the concept for the Work with Views section.

     

    Click the Edit web page button.

  11. We have opened the Properties toolpane in the Web Page Editor.

     

    Notice that the web page links to the Standard style sheet.

  12. Assign the MyStyles style sheet to the web page.

     

    Click the Style Sheet property.

  21. From the appearance of the web page in the Concept pane, you can tell that the web page links to the Standard style sheet.

     

    You can change the style sheet property for a web page from the Outline Editor.

  22. The Properties toolpane has two views; Document and Concept. The default view is Document, which displays the properties for the document selected in the outline pane, in this case, the Hiding and Displaying the Ruler topic.

     

    You can change the view in the Properties toolpane to view and modify the properties for the concept linked to a document.

  24. You can select either the Concept or Web Page item to view the properties for the web page.

    Assign the MyStyles style sheet to the Ruler web page.

  29. You can also assign a style sheet to a new module in the New Module dialog box.

     

    The New Module dialog box opens when you create a new module in the Library or when you link a new module to an outline in the Outline Editor.

  30. Link a new module to the outline.

     

    Click the Link New Module button.
