View Controller, I/O Ports Tab

Navigation: System > Hardware > Controllers > Actions > View > I/O Ports

Displays I/O port information for the selected Controller.
Slot
Location of the HBA installed on the Controller
Port
HBA port number.
Connection Type
Identifies the types of network ports for data path traffic between the customer network switches and the Controllers:
Copper

Identifies copper interfaces.

Long Wave Optical

Identifies longwave optical small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver interfaces.

Short Wave Optical

Identifies shortwave optical SFP transceiver interfaces.

Unknown

Indicates that the connection type cannot be determined.

Status

Identifies the connection state between the HBA port and Controller.

Possible states:
Connected

Indicates that the HBA port on the host is connected to the port on the Controller.

In most operating systems, host ports log in to the Controller ports immediately after the two are physically connected and enabled and remain logged in until the physical connection is broken. So, Connected effectively means that there is an enabled physical connection between the ports.

Not Connected

Indicates that the HBA port on the host is not connected to the port on the Controller.

Note: On HP-UX platforms, however, some HBA device drivers use a different approach. These drivers log out of the connection when there is no traffic to send. The HP-UX initiator often logs out when the initiator does not discover any accessible LUNs attached to the target port. For these reasons, an HP-UX HBA port often shows as Not Connected even though there is an enabled physical connection between the ports.
Bandwidth

Displays the data rate of the port interface.

SFP Status
Displays the status of the SFP transceiver.
  • Bypassed
  • Bypassed-No SFP
  • Bypassed-Incorrect Speed
  • Bypassed-Read Error
  • Bypassed-Incorrect Type
  • Bypassed-Lost Sync
If the interface module itself should fail, the SFP status shows Hardware Failure.
SFP Vendor

Displays the vendor's part number for the SFP. If that information is not available, the system displays Unknown.

SFP Part Number

Displays the vendor's part number for the SFP. If that information is not available, the field is blank or displays Unknown.

SFP Revision

Displays the part revision number for the SFP. If that information is not available, the field is blank or displays Unknown.
