Limiting Maximum Throughput Rate for the Email Sending Daemon

You can limit the number of emails that the Email Sending Daemon sends to your company's outbound Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) each second in order to avoid delays resulting from the MTA being overburdened. This topic describes how to limit the maximum throughput rate, specified in messages per second, for the Email Sending Daemon.

To set a maximum throughput rate

  1. Navigate to the esd.properties file in the ESD_root installation directory.
  2. Open the esd.properties file in a text editor.
  3. Set the esd.smtp.throttleVal property to one of the following values:
    • -1 (High, no throttle). Sends emails at the highest rate possible. This is the default setting.
    • 250-350 (Medium). Sends emails at the rate of this setting, per second.
    • 250-50 (Low). Sends emails at the rate of this setting, per second.
