To create a quick project, click the Projects link in the left Navigation bar.
On the Projects page, click the Create button.
On the Create Quick Project page, you will see the basic set of information that is required to create a project.
Once all the required fields have been filled, click Save to create the project. Each sub-section is dealt with in detail below:
Basic Details
Enter a name for the project.
In installations with multiple initiatives on the same system, you must first choose the initiative to which this project belongs. If you are part of more than one initiative, you will be able to choose team members only after you select an initiative. Depending upon the initiative you choose, the following fields may also vary: Initial Team Members, Roadmaps, Project and Metric types.
Select the type of calendar you want to use. This field displays only if your Administrator has enabled changing th default calendar.
Organization
Choose the appropriate organizational unit for the new project. If a specific hierarchy is being enforced within your system the system will refresh the screen to make sure that only relevant choices are displayed in the pull-down menus.
Note: You can also associate multiple organizations with a project.
Dates
Select the Actual Start Date. This date will be pre-populated to be today’s date, and cannot be in the future. For both date fields, you can select from the pull-down menu or use the calendar.
Select the Planned Realization Date. This is the date by which you expect to complete all the phases of a project. E.g. in a DMAIC project, it would be the date when all tasks and deliverables are completed for the last Control phase, and the project is ready to go into the Realization period.
The initial planned realization date affects the following:
The red/yellow/green color coding of projects which is displayed on My Work and Projects pages. This also controls the escalation mails that are sent out.
The financial start date - as pre-populated by the system. However, the financial start date can be changed at any time by users with the appropriate permissions.
Notes:
Phase due dates are based on the roadmap chosen for a project and are determined by the configured default phase durations for that roadmap.
For more information on using fractional duration/effort, see topic Using Fractional Duration.
Roadmap and Metric types
Select a Project Type and a Road map for this project. The project type options will vary based on the initiative you choose. The roadmap options available to you will also vary depending upon the project type you choose. Project types are used for categorizing the project and reporting. A Roadmap defines a list of unique sets of phases, tasks and deliverables.
You can also enter a name for the primary metric and choose a primary metric type.
Initial Team Members
Select the initial team members for this project. The available team members are determined by the initiative you choose and by the roles the users are allowed to fulfill within the system
Custom fields
Enter the custom fields for projects. If there are no custom fields for projects defined in your system, this section will not appear in the User Interface.
