18 Gift Registry

The Gift Registry feature is a tool to assist the customer in purchasing gifts for someone registered. Items in a sale transaction can be associated to a registry, additionally, gift registries can be set up and maintained in the system from the Back Office. Gift Registry is available if you are using Oracle Retail Customer Engagement Cloud Services. The following can be done in the Register mode of Oracle Retail Xstore Point of Service:

Sell Gift Registry Items

To sell an item off of a gift registry, you must first assign the gift registry to the sale or order. Gift registry sales can be added to special orders and Oracle Retail Order Broker Cloud Service orders (see Chapter 14, "Order Transactions Through Order Broker Cloud Service").

Assign the Gift Registry

If your system is offline, you cannot access the gift registry from Customer Engagement. However, if you've already accessed the gift registry and are making modifications, the registry updates once your system is back on line.

To assign a gift registry:

If the printed gift registry is available, scan the bar code to assign the gift registry to the sale.

  1. Click Register Options in the Register Sale screen.

  2. Click Assign Gift Registry.

  3. Enter the search criteria:

    Gift Registry Search
    • Register # - ID number for the register.

    • Registry Name - Name of the registry.

    • Owner Last Name - Last name of the registry owner.

    • Owner First Name - First name of the registry owner.

    • Event Type - Type of event.

  4. Click Process.

    Xstore Point of Service displays a list of gift registries matching the search criteria.

  5. Select the proper gift registry:

    • Click the registry.

    • Use the up and down arrows to highlight the correct registry and press the Spacebar.

  6. Click Select & Continue.

    Xstore Point of Service returns to the sale screen.

  7. Continue the transaction.

    Any registry items entered into the transaction will have the gift registry number and a gift receipt icon with it in the View Port.

Return a Gift Registry Item

If an item is purchased in a regular sale transaction, assigned to a gift registry, and then a verified return is done on that transaction later, Xstore Point of Service automatically updates the purchase quantity on the registry as a result of the return.

Gift Registry Item in an Order Broker Order

For Order Broker orders you must manually assign the gift registry prior to entering the return or cancelling the order.
