About Database Updates for the Current Release

If you have installed the current release as a new installation, then you use the Database Configuration Wizard task to install a new Siebel database. This database contains schema changes, Siebel Repository changes, and seed data for Siebel CRM functionality through the current release.

If you install the current release as a migration installation, then you must use the Incremental Repository Merge feature to update your existing Siebel database to the current release level. For information about using Incremental Repository Merge, see Siebel Database Upgrade Guide.

In general, it is recommended to install the latest Siebel Patchset release before you install a new Siebel database or run Incremental Repository Merge.

NOTE:  Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, Patchset 5 or later includes some optional features that involve changes to the Siebel Repository. These features are already included if you install a new Siebel database after installing Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, Patchset 5 or later. For an existing installation of Siebel Innovation Pack 2015, if you want to use these features, you must run Incremental Repository Merge after installing the patchset release. (If you have already run Incremental Repository Merge for Patchset 5 or later, then you do not need to run it again for subsequent patchset releases.) Depending on the Siebel CRM installed software version number when you install a new Siebel database, run Incremental Repository Merge, or perform a repository upgrade, you might also have to obtain updated Siebel Repository files (SRF files) from My Oracle Support, as described in Obtaining Updated Siebel Repository Files.
