Create a LUN Like an Existing LUN

You can create a LUN using the QoS properties of an existing LUN as a template. Creating a LUN from a template does not copy any data to the new LUN.

Creating a LUN from an existing LUN copies the QoS properties from the existing LUN to the new LUN. The following properties are not copied to the new LUN:
  • LUN host mappings

Map your new LUN to a host entry.

  • Clone LUN schedules

If you want to create automated Clone LUNs, create a data protection schedule for the LUN.

  1. Navigate to SAN > Storage > LUNs.
  2. Select a LUN from the list that contains the QoS properties that you want to copy.
  3. Select Actions > Create LUN like selected.
The system displays the Create SAN LUN dialog with a unique LUN name.
  4. (Optional) Enter a new, unique name for the LUN.
Note: The system creates a new LUN name that is based on the name of the source LUN.
  5. Make any necessary changes to the LUN properties.
  6. (Optional) Select the Mapping tab and map the LUN to a host entry.
  7. (Optional) Select the Data Protection tab and create a data protection schedule.
  8. Click OK.
