Pay rates allow you to configure the appropriate wage for a job. For example, the minimum wage for a hostess might be $5.75 an hour in the state of Maryland. A location chooses to set the default pay rate at $7.50 an hour, which means that starting hostesses always make $1.75 more than the Maryland minimum wage.
