POS Configuration Tab

On the POS Configuration secondary tab, you can configure an employee’s location-specific POS security settings. These settings include employee class, cashier settings, employee privileges, and so on. For example, an employee who is a manager at one location and is a bartender at another location has different needs. As a manager, the employee needs access to cash drawers, but as a bartender, the employee does not need those privileges. Typically, these settings are performed at the POS. However, once an organization migrates to Labor Management, these options are no longer available at the POS.

There are two types of security settings:
  • Classic

  • Enhanced

At this time, the security type is determined by a RES setting. Currently, only Classic Security is fully supported. Depending on how your organization is configured, you may not see all of the fields described in the following table:

Field Security Setting Description

Location Name

Classic

Select the location where the employee’s POS configuration will apply.

PC Application Password

Classic

Enter the PC Application Password for the employee.

Employee Class

Classic

Select the employee class.

There is no place in the portal to configure employee classes. Enterprises must have Reporting and Analytics installed in order for this field to populate.

Back Office Class

Classic

Select the back office class.

There is no place in the portal to configure Back Office classes. Enterprises must have Reporting and Analytics installed in order for this field to populate.

Employee Privilege

Classic

Select the employee’s privilege level at the POS.

Cashier

Classic

Select whether the employee has cashier functionality (Classic).

Cash Drawer ID

Classic

Select the cash drawer that the employee can access.

The default is None, which means no cash drawer is accessible.

LDS ID

Classic

If applicable, enter the liquor dispensing ID number.

User ID

Enhanced

Enter the user ID.

Password

Enhanced

Enter the password that the employee must use to access the POS.

Confirm Password

Enhanced

Reenter the password that the employee must use to access the POS.

User Account Disabled

Enhanced

Select this option to disable the employee’s user account.

HTML

Enhanced

Shows any HTML page associated with the user’s POS login.

Magnetic Card Number

Enhanced

Swipe the card with the magnetic number to assign to this employee using the mag card reader.

User Alpha 6-8

Enhanced

Use these fields to enter any additional alpha values.

User Numeric 6-8

Enhanced

Use these fields to enter any additional numeric values.
