Batch Communication (xml)
The
batch communication supports the option of exchanging statistic and update data
between main and sub-installation via XML files, i.e. the possibility to
exchange data with software applications of other manufacturers or via data
media.
Every
installation, i.e. all sub-installations as well as the main installation,
requires a regular update of the Batch Communication Parameters to
determine the names of the import and export files and the local directories on
the related hard drives of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS server.
In
addition, you have to activate the option Use BC in the update program System -> Configuration -> Installation to make sure that XML files can be generated for this installation.
Import and Export of XML files in the Main
Installation
The
import and export of XML files can be carried out as follows:
- BC create Upd.Inst. (Main
Installation Central)
Via the button "BC create Upd.Inst.", the
relevant data for the update of the corresponding sub-installations are
created.
In the appropriate directory on the hard drive, the XML file will be
created for the generated data.
The file name and the directory are defined in the update program BC Parameters. When the XML file is created, it is completed by the number
of the sub-installation and the consecutive state number.
In the following example, the
following file is exported:
Output directory (Central) = D:\Update_Out\
Output file name = Update2_2.xml
This file name contains the number of the sub-installation (2), the
consecutive state number (_2) and the file extension (xml).
This file is expected in the input directory of the sub-installation 2 as
an import file.
- BC get Statistic. (Main
Installation Central)
Via the button "BC get Statistic", the
statistical data of the corresponding sub-installations will be imported
from the local directory of the main installation.
In the following example, the
following file is imported:
Input directory (Central) = D:\Statistik_In \
Input file name = Install2_1.xml
This file name contains the number of the sub-installation (2), the
consecutive state number (_1) and the file extension (xml).
This file is expected in the input directory of the main installation 1 as
an import file.
Import and Export of XML files in the Sub-Installation
The
import and export of XML files can be carried out as follows:
- BC getStatistic (Sub-Installation
Branch)
Via the button "BC getStatistic", the relevant
data for the export of the main installation (central) are created.
In the appropriate directory on the hard drive, the XML file will be created
for the generated data.
The file name and the directory are defined in the update program BC Parameters. When the XML file is created, it is completed by the number
of the sub-installation and the consecutive state number.
In the following example, the
following file is exported:
Output directory (Branch) = C:\Statistik_Out\
Output file name = Statistik2_2.xml
This file name contains the number of the sub-installation (2), the
consecutive state number (_2) and the file extension (xml).
This file is expected in the input directory of the main installation 2 as
an import file for the statistical data.
- BC create upd.inst.. (Sub-Installation
Branch)
Via the button "BC create upd.inst." the update
data of the main installations will be imported from the local directory
of the sub-installation to the server database of the sub-installation.
In the following example, the
following file is imported:
Input directory (Branch) = C:\Update_In \
Input file name = Update2_1.xml
This file name contains the number of the sub-installation (2), the
consecutive state number (_1) and the file extension (xml).
