Crystal Report

As from version 2.0 of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application, Crystal Reports VIII can be used for the report printout.

The necessary files are part of the delivery of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS 2.0 version. They are packed in two zip archives (winnt_crystal.zip and CRE.zip) and have to be installed as follows.

1. Unzip CRE.zip and copy the content to C:\winnt\system32.
2. Unzip winnt_crystal.zip and copy the content to C:\winnt\.
3. Register the OCX controls by use of the command ..\work\oscar installCRE
4. Enter the command ..\work\oscar dofgl.fgl <language>.
5. Create the Crystal Report Views for the current statistics by entering the command "oscar CREViews.fgl" or by activating the button "Create CRE Report" in the update program Statistic parameter.

Attention:
With every modification of the statistics parameters, the Crystal Report Views have to be created anew.

Crystal Report XI:

The following changes have been implemented for Crystal Report XI as from version MICROS Retail OSCAR POS 4.0:

Back office reports can be created and printed with Crystal Report XI. If this extension is to be applied an SQL database with access via ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity) is necessary. The minimum software requirement is "Crystal Report XI Runtime“.

When Crystal Report XI is applied, no views need to be created with "oscar CREViews.fgl". Please note that "oscar dofgl.fgl Sprache" must be executed after switchover to the SQL database (oscar isamtosql) to allow SQL scripts to be generated to create sample reports.

Note:
The sample reports listed below are stored via Application -> System -> User interface -> Reports under data record nos. 8000 to 8017 and these can, at present, only be called up from there with button "Start".

Installation of Crystal Report for MICROS Retail OSCAR POS (MS SQL Server)

The following requirements have to be met if Crystal Reports are to be used in MICROS Retail OSCAR POS.

• MICROS Retail OSCAR POS Release 2.0 with SQL database ORACLE 8.0 or MS SQL Server 7.0 (see MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application with SQL database)
  
  If the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application with ORACLE SQL database is in use the following entry must be made in the file..\bin\oscar.ini:
  MICROS Retail OSCAR POS_SQL_ORACLE=Y
• Installation of the Crystal Report Runtime OCX Controls und Dlls that are included in the delivery.
• Currently, there are Crystal Reports for the following MICROS Retail OSCAR POS standard reports and they will be part of the delivery from version 2.0 of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application.

  Item List Short
  Item Turnover / Company
  Branch Report
  Item Groups / Company
  Operator Report

Currently, the reports can be exported in the following formats:

• CR Preview (= Preview on the screen)
• CR Printer (Def.) (= default printer)
• CR RPT =
• CR Lotus 1-2-3 WKS
• CR Word f. Windows
• CR Excel 5.0 XIS
• CR HTML 3.0

Note:
Depending on the report, the appropriate export format will be selected via button “CRPreview”. The file output takes place in the directory ..\work.

The options "Pre Sel." and "Short Report" in the selection windows for the reports will not be supported.

With appropriate knowledge of 4GL programming and Crystal Report, further reports can be created at any time.

Embedding the CRE reports into a report chain:

The embedding of CRE reports into a report chain is to be carried out in the same way as with the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS standard reports.

Additional CRE parameters are the available export formats (e.g. CRE = 8 for the output in HTML 3.0 format:
