Step 5: Patch Oracle Grid Infrastructure on Node 0

Patch Oracle Grid Infrastructure on Node 0 to the release required for Oracle Database Appliance 12.1.2.6.

If you are upgrading to a newer patch version than the patch set release currently installed on Oracle Database Appliance, then you must patch the Oracle Grid Infrastructure software to the release that you are deploying to obtain the correct Oracle Appliance Manager version.

Note:

You must run the infra patch before you attempt to run the GI patch to patch Oracle Grid Infrastructure.

Note:

For the Oracle Database Appliance 12.1.2.6 release, you must patch the Oracle Grid Infrastructure using the --local command option.
  1. Run the following command on Node 0:

#/opt/oracle/oak/bin/oakcli update -patch 12.1.2.6.0 --gi --local

This command patches the Oracle Grid Infrastructure software only on Node 0. As the patch runs, it displays output that advises you of the installation progress.

  2. Run the Oracle Linux 6 Postcheck validation on Node 1, to verify the completeness of the upgrade:

    oakcli validate -c ol6upgrade -postchecks

This command runs only on Node 0. It verifies that the Oracle Linux 6 upgrade completed successfully, and that you are ready for the Oracle Database upgrade on Node 0.

    Caution:

You must patch Node 1 immediately after completing this step. Oracle does not support maintaining Oracle Database Appliance nodes on different Oracle Linux operating system releases.
