samsetup - Configures StorageTek QFS and Oracle HSM file system interactively
∕opt∕SUNWsamfs∕sbin∕samsetup
SUNWqfs
SUNWsamfs
The samsetup
utility provides the ability to configure the most common
deployments of Oracle HSM through an interactive menu-driven command line
interface. More advanced deployments can use this utility to generate the
initial configuration files to use as a starting point.
The user must be superuser to run the samsetup
command. The samsetup
command configuration menu depends on which packages are installed on the
system.
The following menu options are displayed when either the SUNWqfs or SUNWsamfs packages are installed on the system.
The "Create and configure a new QFS file system" menu allows the user to create a new Storagetek QFS file system by enabling the selection of the file system type, file allocation scheme, disks to use etc.
The "Modify an existing QFS file system" menu is used to make changes to an already existing Storagetek QFS file system by providing two options, growing an existing QFS file system by adding disk partitions and shrinking a QFS file system by moving all the data from the selected data device within an ma file system to other available data devices.
The following menu options are displayed only when SUNWsamfs packages are installed on the system.
The "Disk Archiving" menu allows the user to configure disk archiving to another file system on the same host. This utility does not support configuration on the remote host and needs to be done manually.
The "Tape Archiving" menu allows the user to detect and configure both direct attached and StorageTek ACSLS attached tape libraries.
The "Archive Administration" menu generates the archiver.cmd
file which
controls the archiver's behavior. The user can select configuration options and
tune the actions of the archiver.
The samsetup
utility creates a log file with the set of commands that have
been executed and their output at ∕tmp∕samsetup∕samsetup.log.pid for debugging
purposes.
