Creating a New Tool Template

To create a new tool template:

  1. Click the Knowledge Base link in the Left Navigation bar, or select Go To > Knowledge Base from the Top Navigation bar.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate folder in the tree pane, or create a new folder.
  3. Click the button.
  4. In the properties pane, enter a name for the tool template or select one from the Suggested Template Names pull-down menu.
  5. If needed, enter the initiative for which this global document is being created. By default, this is set to be None.
  6. Enter a description of the tool template.
  7. Select the type of tool template you are creating. The categories of templates are created during system configuration, and depend on the selected initiative. If no initiative is selected, only global tool types are shown.
  8. Enter the complete path to the template location, or use the Browse button to locate it on your machine or the network. You can also enter a fully qualified URL if the template is hosted external to the system.
  9. In the Tool Help section, you can enter a tool tip and additional help text that will be displayed when the tool is accessed. You can also attach an external document or specify a URL for additional help with the tool.
  10. To prevent other users from modifying the document you can select the Lock Document check box. You can also enter a lock description.
  11. Click Save to upload your template.

Note: When a project roadmap is created, the administrator may refer to a tool template that has not yet been uploaded. A list of such referenced but not uploaded tool templates is displayed in the Suggested Template Name field. When all templates referenced in project roadmaps have been uploaded this field will not be displayed.
