Installing Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop on Client Computers

This topic provides information about installing an addin for Microsoft Outlook on user computers that enables users to drag and drop email messages or email attachments into Siebel Business Applications.

As of Siebel Innovation Pack 2016, customers can install the addin Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop on user computers for use with employee applications. Installing this software enables a user to drag one or more email messages or email attachments from a Microsoft Outlook client and drop it onto a Siebel attachment applet. Each item is saved in an attachment record in the Siebel File System. You can then open this attachment like any other similar type of attachment that you have added to Siebel Business Applications. Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop is sometimes abbreviated as SODD.

NOTE:  Future Siebel Patchset releases for Siebel Innovation Pack 2016 might include an updated version of the Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop addin. If a new version of the addin is distributed in a patchset release, then the new version will be described in the Siebel Patchset Installation Guide for Siebel CRM, 1614310.1 (Article ID) on My Oracle Support.

Use Cases for Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop

Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop supports the following use cases:

• Drag one email message from the Microsoft Outlook client and drop it into the Siebel CRM application. The email message is saved in a single attachment record. Or drag multiple email messages, which are saved in multiple attachment records.
• Drag one email attachment from the Microsoft Outlook client and drop it into the Siebel CRM application. The email attachment is saved in a single attachment record. Or drag multiple email attachments, which are saved in multiple attachment records.

Installing Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop

Use the following procedure to install the Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop addin on a client computer on which the Microsoft Outlook client is installed and on which the user runs Siebel Business Applications.

To install the Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop addin

1. From the Siebel Innovation Pack 2016 media on Oracle Software Delivery Cloud, download \siebel_sodd_209\Siebel_SODD_2.0.9.zip.
2. Unzip Siebel_SODD_2.0.9.zip to extract the installer program, Outlook Add-in for Siebel.exe.
3. On the client computer, double-click the installer file, Outlook Add-in for Siebel.exe, to start the Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop installer program.
4. After the installation completes, restart the Microsoft Outlook client.
5. Verify that Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop installed correctly. To do this, check the list of installed Outlook add-ins in the Microsoft Outlook client.

Installing Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop in Silent Mode

Use a command like one of the following examples to run the Outlook to Siebel Drag and Drop installer in silent mode. The first example shows an installation path with spaces, while the second example shows an installation path without spaces. To run this installer in silent mode, you must do so as an Administrator user.

"Outlook Add-in for Siebel.exe" /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=\"C:\Program Files (x86)\Outlook Add-in for Siebel\""

"Outlook Add-in for Siebel.exe" /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=C:\SODD"

After installation, restart the Microsoft Outlook client.
