Compiling Workspaces

After making changes on a workspace-enabled object, you can compile the changes of that workspace.

By compiling the workspace and replacing the Siebel repository file, you can test the changes that were made to the application to see whether these changes are reflected in the Siebel user interface. Also, you can test whether the functionality is working as expected.

To compile a workspace

  1. In the workspace dashboard, select the Tools menu and then select the Compile Workspace option.

The Object Compiler dialog box appears, listing all object changes that were made by the user who is using that workspace.

  2. Select the workspace objects for compiling.
  3. (Optional) Click the Browse button to modify the value of the Siebel repository file.
  4. Click the Compile button.

If you encounter any issue in this process, you can perform further work on the objects and check the functionality by compiling the workspace until the final product is ready. After the final product is tested by workspace developers and is ready functionally, workspace developers can change the status of the workspace to Submitted for Delivery. After the MAIN workspace owner performs the approval process, the changes of this workspace will be delivered to the MAIN workspace.

Notice that workspaces can be delivered only by the MAIN workspace owners, who need to login to Siebel Tools, open the workspace that needs to be delivered, and select the Deliver option under the Workspace menu. For more information on how to deliver workspaces, see Delivering Workspaces.
