Repositioning Elements of Siebel Composer

As a layout editor, the Siebel Composer user interface (UI) can be used to reposition existing elements. Users can reposition both Container and Content Item elements into the available placeholders as determined by the Siebel Composer application. While repositioning, Siebel UI automatically represents how the UI will eventually look by rearranging the other elements in the context.

To reposition elements of Siebel Composer

  1. Hover around the Siebel application screen to determine the element or group of elements to be repositioned.
  2. The Hover Context represents what will be repositioned.

Use this visual cue to determine the correct elements to be affected.

  3. Once the element is determined, click a spot within the hover context, which is not an actual Siebel application element.

This step is necessary because repositioning is mouse-driven and using an actual Siebel element may trigger unexpected actions on it.

  4. Use the mouse to start dragging the elements represented by the Hover Context.
  5. As the mouse is moved around with the elements, valid drop zones are dynamically calculated by the Siebel Composer applications and are represented by a green border.
  6. Drop the elements in any valid area to complete the repositioning action.

The Siebel Composer application records the change.

  7. In the Execution Bar, verify that the change was recorded by noting an increment in the Pending Commit Counter.

This example shows a drag action-in-progress of a container in the Account Form applet. The container consists of the elements corresponding to Query, Add, and Delete actions on the applet. This container element, while previously to the left of the Menu element, is now being dragged to the right of the pagination elements. The green border represents a valid drop zone for this element.
