Configure Gantt Summary Bars on the Activities Page

Configure and display summary bars for activity groups on the Activities page for a program or project schedule when using the Gantt chart. Enable multiple summary bars in the Gantt chart to summarize each activity grouping across multiple activity dates. There is no limit to the number of summary bars that you can create in a view.

Each summary bar can have different configurations so that each bar is clearly distinguishable in the Gantt chart. This is especially useful for schedulers and other stakeholders who need to see how groups of activities are performing against the original schedule.

To add and configure a Gantt summary bar:

  1. Navigate to the Activities page
  2. Select Activities Grid Settings.
  3. In the Manage Views panel, select the Bars tab.
  4. To add a summary bar and configure bar settings, do the following:
    1. Select Configure, select Add , and then select Summary Bar.
    2. In the Bar Type list, select one of the available bar types.

    4. In the Bar Color picker, select a color for the bar.
    5. Enable Show Expanded Summary Bars to show summary bars for an expanded and collapsed grouping band in the Gantt view. When this option is disabled, a summary bar will only display if its corresponding grouping band is collapsed.
    6. Click and drag the center of the bar to reposition it.
    7. (Optional) Add and configure additional summary bars as needed.
    8. Remove a summary bar by selecting Delete Summary Bar beside the bar.

    2. Select Save As. When selected, you can create a new Personal, Project, or Workspace view with a new name in the Save View as window.
    3. Select Apply. When selected, you are returned to the grid. The grid displays any changes you have made; however, those changes are not saved. To save changes select Save or Save As in the View list.
    4. Select Close.
