Create the Acme Packet Boot Media

Before you can perform a system recovery by reinstalling the software image from a USB flash drive, you must prepare the flash drive with the Acme Packet Boot Media Creator.

  • Download the zip file for the release that you want from the My Oracle Support website at https://support.oracle.com to a Microsoft Windows PC and confirm that it contains nn<RELEASE>-img-usb.exe.
  • This procedure requires a 2-16GB USB flash drive.
To prepare the USB flash drive, launch the Acme Packet Boot Media Creator, add the software image file, and select the boot options. The Acme Packet Boot Media Creator validates the software image file and prepares the USB flash drive to boot the session border controller.
  1. From the Microsoft Windows PC, locate the zip file that you downloaded from My Oracle Support and open the nn<RELEASE>-img-usb.exe file.
The system displays the Acme Packet Boot Media Creator wizard.
  2. Click Next.
  3. In the Select Software Image dialog, select Embedded image nn<RELEASE>, and click Next.
The system validates the software image.
  4. Insert the required USB flash drive into the PC.
  5. In the Select USB Flash Drive dialog, select the flash drive from the list, and click Next.
  6. In the Select Options dialog, do the following:
    1. Installation Type. Select Commission.
    2. Console Port. Select Default.
    3. Include Pre-load Tar File. Deselect the checkbox.
    4. Include License Codes. Deselect the checkbox.
    5. Optional. Generate Installation Logs. Select the checkbox.
  7. Click Next.
  8. In the Ready to Create Boot Media dialog, click Next.
  9. In the confirmation dialog, click Yes.
The system displays the Creating USB Flash Boot Disk dialog, while the system prepares the flash drive.
  10. When the system indicates that the flash drive is prepared, click Next.
The system displays the Finishing Up dialog, while finalizing the boot media. This process may take several minutes.
  11. When the system indicates that the boot media is finalized, click Next.
  12. Click Finish.
  13. Remove the USB flash drive from the PC.

    Note:

To avoid data loss, do not leave the USB flash drive in the PC.
Reinstall the software image on the session border controller. See "Restore the System from a USB Flash Drive."
