Creating a Time Period

Note: Certain functions of policy time periods are not applicable to all releases including the following options:

Different days of a month
Specific day and time in a specific year

To create a time period:

From the Policy Server section of the navigation pane, select Time Periods.
The content tree displays the Time Period Administration group.
From the content tree, select the Time Period Administration group.
The Time Period Administration page opens in the work area.
Click Create Time Period.
The New Time Period page opens.
To configure the general information for the time period, enter the following:
1. Name (required) — Name of the time period.
  The name can only contain the characters A–Z, a–z, 0–9, period (.), hyphen (-), and underline (_).
2. Description / Location — A descriptive phrase.
3. Precedence (required) — A positive integer.
  The lower the number, the higher the precedence. If time periods overlap, the time period with the highest precedence (lowest number) applies.

To configure time slots table, use the following table functions:

To add a time slot to the table — Click Add; the Add Time Slot window opens. Configure the values as appropriate.

Note: Start Time and End Time are required. All other values are optional.

Years — Click Please Select Years and select one or more years.
Months of Year — Select one or more months.
Days of Month — Click Please Select Days and Select one or more days of the month and the direction. To count the days in reverse order (from the last day of the month to the first), select Reverse.
Days of Week—Select one or more week-day.
Start Time—Select the starting time.
End Time—Select the ending time.

Note: Time slots cannot overlap. If time slots overlap, a message displays and the slots are not saved. See Figure 1 for an example of overlapping time slots.

Table 1 shows how to configure time slots for some example situations.

To clone an attribute in the table—Select an existing attribute in the table and click Clone; the Clone window opens with the information for the attribute. Make changes as required.
To edit an attribute in the table—Select the attribute in the table and click Edit; the Edit Response window opens, displaying the information for the attribute. Make changes as required.
To delete an attribute from the table—Select the attribute in the table and click Delete. A confirmation message displays. Click Delete to remove the attribute.

Click Save.

The time period is defined in the CMP database and can be used in a policy time condition.
