Adding a Start Step

A start step is a type of workflow process step that indicates the starting point of the workflow process. A workflow process can contain only one start step. You can define a decision condition and a run-time event on the connector that emanates from the start step, but not on the start step itself. You can define the connector that emanates from a start step to do the following work:

• Define the decision conditions that must be met to start the workflow process. For example, to handle an open service request, you can define a condition of Status equals Open on the connector. For more information, see Configuring a Decision Condition.
• Define a run-time event that starts the workflow process. For example, to create an activity if the revenue for an opportunity is greater than $10,000, you can define a WriteRecord run-time event, and then define a workflow that inserts the activity if the user saves an opportunity that meets the decision condition. To add a start step

1. Add a start step to a workflow process.

2. Optional. To configure a run-time event to start the workflow process, you attach a connector to the start step, and then define the run-time event on this connector.
