Creating a Report from a Prompt
Use AI to generate reports by entering a natural language prompt. Textura converts your request into a structured query and retrieves data from Data-as-a-Service (DaaS).
You can:
- Enter a natural language request, or
- Paste a GraphQL query
Textura Reporting assistant generates a structured query and displays a preview of the results.
Notes:
- This feature is available in limited release.
- Recreating Standard Textura Reports: Textura provides configured reports for tracking user roles, disbursements, draw status, and billing reports. For more information, see the Mapping DaaS to Textura Reports section of the Textura Data as a Service Guide.
Before You Begin
Make sure:
- Your organization has Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) enabled in Organization Settings.
- You have the View all organization projects permission.
Tips for Writing Effective Prompts
Describe the data you need as clearly as possible. Include relevant fields such as: project name, project number, organization ID, and Payment or invoice details.
Clear, specific prompts return more accurate results.
To create a report from a prompt:
- Navigate to the Reports Page
From the Tools menu in the header of any page, select Reports.
- From the Reports page, select +Create.
The Report Guided Process displays.
- From the Report Guided Process, choose Create Report from Request.
- Enter your prompt and press Enter to generate the query.
After entering a prompt, the page shows the current status of your request. During processing, you may see messages such as Generating query or Running query against DaaS. When processing completes, the page displays the DaaS data sources used to generate the proposed report.
Note: Select the name of a DaaS source to open the DaaS documentation.
- Review the data preview.
- Select Continue.
- (Optional) Update your prompt in the refinement field, and press Enter to regenerate the preview.
- Enter a report name
- Select Create and Run.
Textura saves the report to the My Reports page and runs the query you defined.
