Rate Code Search

The Rate Code search field that appears on the Reservation screen, the Edit Daily Details screen, and the Rate Query Details screen can be used for string searches as described in this section.

Rate Code Search from the Reservation Screen and the Edit Daily Details Screen

By selecting the down arrow on the Rate Code field on the Reservation screen and on the Edit Daily Details screen, you can open the Rate Query Details screen where you can choose from among available rate codes for the current reservation. This field also supports direct text entry of a rate code so that you can type in the specific rate code that you want to attach to the reservation. The Rate Code field also supports partial searching when you type in a text entry. When you have entered a text string and tab out of the field, OPERA attempts to match the text you entered with any (one or more) available rate codes. If one exact match is found, OPERA allows you to proceed without displaying the Rate Query Details screen. If the text you enter partially matches rate codes, the Rate Query Details screen is opened with the possible matches displayed so that you can make your choice. For example, assume your property has an ECONOMY rate code and an ECOTOUR rate code. if you type ECO in the Rate Code field and tab out, the Rate Query Details screen might open with ECONOMY and ECOTOUR rate codes displayed. If you type ECONOMY, which would be an exact match, the Rate Query Details screen is not displayed. If no exact match or possible match is found (for example, if you entered a random string like ECOKLBX in the above example), OPERA displays the Rate Query screen with all available rate codes so that you can make your selection (as if you had selected the down arrow on the Rate Code field).

Text Strings and Wildcard Searching

When you enter a text string, OPERA assumes the string you entered starts from the first character of the rate code. For example, if you enter ECO, OPERA assumes the rate code starts with ECO (e.g., ECONOMY, ECOTOUR) and does not look for rate codes that include that string somewhere inside of the rate code or at the end of the rate code (e.g., TECORA or AMMECO). To search on a string within the rate code or at the end of the rate code, you can use the percent (%) wildcard to represent any characters when you enter a text string in the Rate Code field.

For example, E% would match ECONOMY and ECOTOUR. %CO% would match ECONOMY and ECOTOUR. E%R would match ECOTOUR.

Note: Even if there is only one possible match, when using the % wildcard OPERA will display the Rate Query Details screen showing that match.

OPERA will display the Rate Query screen with any possible matches. If no possible matches are found, OPERA will display the Rate Query screen as if you had selected the down arrow.

Rate Code Search from the Rate Code Details Screen

A Rate Code search field is included on the Rate Query Details screen. When the Rate Query Details screen is displayed as the result of a Rate Code field text search initiated from the Reservation screen or from the Edit Daily Details screen, the Rate Code field in the Rate Query Details screen shows the text string that was used for the search. (The text string is not carried over to the Rate Code field on the rate Query Details screen if the search found no match or possible matches.

You can also directly enter a search string in this field and tab out of the field to execute a new search right from the Rate Query Details screen. You can use the wildcard (%) as described above to represent any characters when you enter the search string in the Rate Code field.
