Base Compensation and Budgeting

Base Compensation and Budgeting enables you to calculate budgets, set up your basic salary planning system architecture, and manually apply salary data to worker records.

Before you begin planning worker salaries, make sure control table data and worker job data exists in PeopleSoft HR tables.

The following are some optional setup steps to consider:

  • Enable workflow on the PeopleTools Workflow System Defaults page.

    Workflow is available in the worker review and salary increase budgeting and planning business processes.

  • Select Rate Code Groups on the Installation Table - HCM Options page if your organization applies Percent-type rate codes to groups of pay components.

  • Select Salary Points on the Installation Table - HCM Options page if your organization uses Points-type rate codes.

  • Select Multi-Step Grade on the Installation Table - HCM Options page if you want the system to automatically enter step components in Job Data.

  • (Optional) Create configurable matrices if you want to use a salary increase matrix to calculate a budget.
