Managing Block Alternate Dates

Alternate booking dates can be added to a business block when a customer has various date options suitable for the stay.

Alternate Dates only apply to blocks prior to a deduct inventory status and are deleted once the block is updated to a deduct inventory status.

If a customer decides one of the alternate dates is more suitable, the block dates can be easily updated through conversion of alternate dates to primary dates. The primary dates for a block are the dates displayed on Group Rooms Control and other availability screens.

Note:

The following behavior applies to alternate dates when the Master Sub Blocks OPERA Control is active.
  • The Alternate Dates action link is not available on the business block when creating regular master blocks and sub blocks, tour series master and sub blocks. When the Tour Series OPERA Control is active and the Master-sub Allocations OPERA Control is active.

  • When converting a block with alternate dates to a tour series, or when converting a block with alternate dates to a master allocation, the alternate dates are deleted and the Alternate Dates action link is disabled on Master and Sub blocks.

Adding Block Alternate Dates

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings , select Blocks and then Manage Block.

  2. Enter search criteria, click Search.

  3. Select the block in the search result, click I Want to..., click Alternate Dates or open the Block and click Alternate Dates.

  4. Click New.

  5. Select an option:

    1. Start Date

      1. Enter a series of start dates

    2. Date Range

      1. Arrival From: Enter or select a From Date.

      2. Arrival To: Enter or select a To Date.

      3. Arrive On: Select the required days of the week.

  6. Click Save.

Editing Block Alternate Dates

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings , select Blocks and then Manage Block.

  2. Enter search criteria, click Search.

  3. Select the block in the search result, click I Want to..., click Alternate Dates or open the Block and click Alternate Dates.

  4. Click Vertical Ellipse, select Edit.

  5. Update details.

  6. Click Save.

Deleting Block Alternate Dates

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings , select Blocks and then Manage Block.

  2. Enter search criteria, click Search.

  3. Select the block in the search result, click I Want to..., click Alternate Dates or open the Block and click Alternate Dates.

  4. Click Vertical Ellipse, select Delete.

  5. Click Delete to confirm.

Converting Alternate Dates to Primary Dates

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings , select Blocks and then Manage Block.

  2. Enter search criteria, click Search.

  3. Select the block in the search result, click I Want to..., click Alternate Dates or open the Block and click Alternate Dates.

  4. Click Vertical Ellipse, select Convert to Primary.

  5. Click Convert to Primary to confirm update.
