Importing a Package

To import a package:

  1. From the Primavera Portfolio Management Console Packages tab, click Import (refer to Working with Packages in Administration).

    Or

    From the Windows Start menu, choose Programs > Primavera Portfolio Management > Import PPM Package. The Login dialog box appears.

    Note: No other users should be logged on while the Import PPM Package program is running.

  2. Enter your login name and password and click OK. An alert message appears.
  3. Click Yes to continue with the import process. The Open PPM package dialog box appears.
  4. Select the package you want to import and click Open.

    Note: During the import process, you can always change the package you are importing. Click Open package from any of the Import Package wizard steps to select a different package to open.

    The General step of the Import Package wizard appears. The information shown in this step is obtained from the import package. You can change any information. Refer to steps 3-5 in Creating and Exporting a Package for more information about the General step.

  5. Click Next. The Content step of the Export Package wizard is displayed. The Content step contains a list of the hierarchies in the import package. For information on the options in this step, refer to steps 10-12 in Creating and Exporting a Package.
  6. To view details of the objects in a hierarchy, select the hierarchy, and click Details.

    OR

    Double-click the hierarchy. The Details dialog box appears. All the objects in the hierarchy that are included in the import package are listed.

  7. Click Close to return to the Content step of the Import Package wizard.
  8. Click Next. The Options step of the Import Package Wizard appears.

    Refer to steps 13-18 in Creating and Exporting a Package for information about the options in this step.

  9. Click Indicator Mappings to open the Indicator Mapping dialog box and determine how the imported package's indicators should be mapped to the slots available in the target system. The mapping can also be done earlier, when exporting a package.
  10. Click Next. The Derived Objects step of the Import Package wizard is displayed. Refer to steps 20-23 in Creating and Exporting a Package for information about the options in this step.
  11. Click Finish. If no conflicts are detected, a confirmation message appears.

    Note: If conflicts exist, the Conflict Report window appears. For more information on resolving conflicts when importing packages, refer to Resolving Package Conflicts.

  12. Click Import to continue the import process. A confirmation message will appear when the import process is complete.
  13. Click OK.

    Note: Value lists are always overwritten and therefore never appear in the conflict report.
