Installation
This chapter describes how to install the MAPI subsystem and Exchange Service.
Note: The %COMPOZE_HOME%
directory refers to the directory where products are installed and %COMPOZE_EXCHANGE_SERVICE_HOME%
refers to the directory the Exchange Service is installed.
This chapter contains the following sections:
Installing the MAPI Subsystem
You can install the MAPI subsystem with the Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003 System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Administrator.
Note: Before installing the MAPI subsystem, be sure the machine satisfies the Windows Domain requirements. For more information, see Windows Domain Requirements.

Using Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003 System Manager
Perform the following steps to install the Exchange Service using the System Manager:
- Insert the Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003 Server CD.
- Assign the Install action to Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools.
Note: Do not install Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Administrator.
- Click Next and choose an installation path.
- Click Finish to complete the installation.
- Recommended: Install the latest Service Pack of Microsoft Exchange.
Using the Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Administrator
Perform the following steps to install the Exchange Service using the Administrator:
- Insert the Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server CD.
Note: If you are running Exchange 2000, the Exchange 5.5 CD also ships with Exchange 2000 distributions.
- Choose Setup Server and Components.
- Choose Microsoft Exchange 5.5.
- Choose Microsoft Exchange Administrator only install (uncheck all other boxes).
- Enter the Microsoft license key.

Installing the Exchange Service
Perform the following steps to install the Exchange Service onto Windows:
- Start the installer by double-clicking on the
setup.exe
file. The installation screen opens and begins preparing the installation.
- Read through the introduction and click Next. You will be able to exit the installation at anytime by clicking Cancel. You will also be able to go back a step by clicking Previous when available.
- Read through the license agreement and select an option:
Selecting I accept the terms of the License Agreement will allow you to continue with the installation.
Selecting I do NOT accept the terms of the License Agreement will terminate the installation.
- Select the directory Exchange Service will be installed to. By default, the
%COMPOZE_HOME%
directory is chosen. You may change this by entering the absolute path of the directory or by clicking Choose and selecting the directory.
- Select whether to start the Exchange Service when the install is complete.
- Read the installation summary information before clicking Install. The summary will contain information such as the installation directory and the amount of disk space required.
- Click Install to install the Exchange Service.
- After the installation is complete, click Done.

Verifying the Installation
Perform the following steps to verify the installation:
- Browse to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Confirm that the BEA WebLogic Exchange Service is installed. The service will be started if you selected to start the Exchange Service in step 7 .
