Defining Filtering

Use this task to define filters and the logical constraints and data criteria for the filter criterion.

Before you begin this task, open the Layout Options page as discussed in one of the following tasks:

When you finish the following task, resume at the step in the applicable previous task where you left off.

To define filtering for the layout:

  1. On the Filters tab of the Layout Options page:
    1. To use and configure filters, click the Add button to create a new filter, or select Apply for an existing filter. When any filter becomes active, the Show all activities option is cleared.
    2. In the Show activities that match option, select All selected filters or Any selected filters to determine whether the filter should match any or all of the rules.
    3. Click Add to create a new filter and Delete to remove a filter. You cannot add or delete filters in the Standard category. You can select a category band or an existing entry to Add.
    4. Click Copy and Paste to make a copy of an existing filter. You cannot paste filters in the Standard category.
    5. Click Move to Global if you want to promote the selected filter to the Global level from Layout or User Levels.
    6. Click Clear All to deselect all filters that are selected in the Apply column.
    7. In the Search field, you can enter text to automatically narrow the list of filters to show only entries that match the text. If this field is blank, all filters are listed.
    8. Select the Apply option next to the name of the filter if you want to apply this filter to your layout.
    9. Select a filter to define the logical constraints and date criteria for the selected filter in the Filter Details area.
  2. In the Details area:
    1. In the Display activities that match list, select any of the following rules or all of the following rules to determine whether the filter should match any or all of the rules.
    2. To set the parameter, select the appropriate option from the list.
    3. To set the condition, select a constraint from the list.
    4. To set a value, enter or select a value. If you choose a condition with a range, define these two values.

Tips

You can add, delete, copy, paste, move, and nest rows in the Filter Details area by using the Add, Delete, Copy, Paste, Up, Down, Indent, and Outdent buttons.
