The Activities Details section a list of activities in the project. Select an activity that you would like to explore further. The following following information is displayed for each activity:
- Activity: The name of the activity.
- Activity Type: Determines how duration and schedule dates are calculated for an activity.
The following values may display:
- Task Dependent: Activities are scheduled using the activity's calendar rather than the calendars of the assigned resources. For example, you might have an activity to cure concrete; you know how long the task takes and the addition of resources won’t complete the task any earlier. You would designate this activity as task dependent.
- Resource Dependent: Activities are scheduled using the calendars of the assigned resources. This type is used when several resources are assigned to the activity, but they might work separately. For example, an activity that requires an Inspector might be delayed if that resource is assigned to multiple projects or is on vacation.
- Float: Float is a measure of schedule flexibility. It is a measure that can be used to determine what extent an activity can be delayed without impacting a delay in the project. Activities with zero float have no flexibility and must begin and end as scheduled. Activities with a positive float indicate they are ahead of schedule and have some flexibility to ensure they can be completed without causing project delay. Activities with a negative float indicate they are behind schedule.
- Primary Resource: The primary resource is the person responsible for the overall work on the activity and for updating activity status.
- Delay Probability: The likelihood of the activity being delayed.
- Planned Duration: The expected amount of time required to complete an activity.
- Actual Duration: The total working time from the activity Actual Start date to the Actual Finish date for completed activities, or the total working time from the Actual Start date to the data date for in-progress activities.
- Predicted Duration: The expected duration for completing the activity from the predicted start date to the predicted finish date.
- Predicted Start: The date on which the activity is expected to start. A delayed start or an early start is indicated in parenthesis. For example a 10 day delay is indicated as (+10), and an early start of 5 days is indicated as (-5) days.
- Actual Delay: The difference between the planned start date or planned finish date and the corresponding actual start date or actual finish date of an activity.
- Predicted Finish: The date on which the activity is expected to complete. A delay or early finish is indicated in parenthesis. For example a 10 day delay is indicated as (+10), and an early finish of 5 days is indicated as (-5) days.
- Predicted Delay: The expected delay in completing the activity.
