Alerts monitor system events, and dispatch e-mail messages when triggered. Each alert is a set of conditions (defined at the time of setting up the alert) that constitute an event. For example, the addition of an item to a portfolio can be defined as an alert-triggering event. Whenever an item is added to the monitored portfolio, a pre-defined e-mail message will notify the appropriate recipients.
